As reported here https://www.thebatavian.com/brianquinn/town-of-bergen-passes-local-law-for-park-rec-area-rules/648416. A local law recently adopted by the Bergen Town Board establishes rules governing Robins Brook Park, Drew’s Nature Center, and the West Shore Recreation Area.
Among the prohibited activities is possessing weapons in these areas, whether carried openly or concealed. The prohibited weapons include firearms, switchblades, hunting knives, slingshots, bows and arrows, daggers, and metal knuckles. Below is our email sent to the town board and their reply.

- Was Item 9, “Adopting Local Law No. 5 of 2026 Amending Chapter 137,” reviewed with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office regarding enforcement of the proposed amendments? No-
- Was Item 9, “Adopting Local Law No. 5 of 2026 Amending Chapter 137,” reviewed with the Genesee County District Attorney’s Office regarding enforcement and the constitutionality of the proposed amendments? N0
- It was reported in a news article that an “FBI firearms instructor” assisted with drafting the language of the local law. Please provide the individual’s full contact information. The news article was inaccurate in reporting this.
